Criminal Procedure in GeorgiaGeorgian criminal procedure is governed by the Criminal Procedure Code of Georgia, which operates on an adversarial model. Defendants have the right to legal counsel from the moment of detention. The Georgian Prosecutor's Office conducts investigation. Trials are conducted before professional judges; jury trials are available in the Georgian system; However, their application is strictly limited and reserved only for specific criminal cases rather than being available for civil disputes or all crimes. MAC Advisory recommends engaging legal counsel as early as possible — ideally at the investigation stage — to protect client rights, preserve evidence, and develop a defence strategy before formal charges are filed.
